Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions shall apply to volunteers that participate in the Malaysia Information and Comunications Technology Volunteer (“MIV”) Programme and may at any time be modified, varied or revoked by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (“MCMC”).

1. APPLICATION AS A VOLUNTEER UNDER THE MIV PROGRAMME

1.1 Any person who is interested to be a volunteer under the MIV Programme (“Applicant”) may, subject to the conditions stipulated below, apply to be a volunteer under the MIV Programme by filling up the application form at MIV.mcmc.gov.my.

1.2 The Applicant shall be subjected to the followings:

  1. Is a Malaysian citizen;
  2. Aged 18 years and above, as at 1 September 2015;
  3. Must be in reasonably good health and medically fit.; and
  4. Any other conditions as may be determined by MCMC from time to time.

1.3 No prior volunteering experience is required but Applicants who have experience in volunteering in the areas of Information and Communications Technology are encouraged to apply.

1.4 The application is free of charge.

2. SELECTION OF VOLUNTEERS

2.1 The Applicants shall be subject to a selection process to be conducted by MCMC.

2.2 Upon selection, MCMC will notify the successful Applicants through email.

2.2 Original proof of identification is required to be provided by the Applicants upon a successful application (NRIC and/or driving licence) to verify his/her identity and age.

2.3 MCMC reserves the right to reject any applications made and limit the number of successful Applicants.

3. DISMISSAL OF VOLUNTEERS

3.1 MCMC reserves the rights to dismiss the Volunteer from his/her duties based on one or more of the followings:

  1. Dishonesty (including but not limited to the provision of false information during application as a volunteer);
  2. Theft (including but not limited to stealing of entitlements/souvenirs); or
  3. Inappropriate behavior.

3.2 Volunteers who are dismissed based on the above reason(s) and/or any other reasons that MCMC deems appropriate, may not be allowed to volunteer for any future programmes organized by MCMC.

4. INDEMNITY

4.1 MCMC is not responsible for any loss of property, personal injury, illness, accident, delay or expense sustained by the volunteer while participating in the MIV Programme.

4.2 Volunteers shall be wholly liable for any financial obligations or liabilities that the volunteers may incur, including damages to property whilst participating in the MIV Programme.

4.3 The volunteer agrees to indemnify MCMC against any and all liability which MCMC may incur arising directly or indirectly out of, or in connection (in any way) with the volunteer's services in the MIV programme. Therefore, MCMC, including any and all of its employees, managers, directors and partner organizations are not liable for any loss or harm the volunteer or their associates may suffer, including but not limited to, loss caused directly or indirectly by:

  1. Personal injury;
  2. Emotional injury;
  3. Death;
  4. Illness or disease;
  5. Damage to or loss of property;
  6. Natural disasters;
  7. Hostage situations; or
  8. War or terrorism.

4.4 The volunteer acknowledges and accepts the responsibilities and risks associated with their agreement to provide volunteer services in the MIV Programme.

5. WAIVER

By volunteering in the MIV Programmer, the volunteer, agrees to abide by these Terms & Conditions and understands that MCMC reserves the rights to modify the Terms & Conditions in any way and at any times deemed necessary or appropriate. Without further compensation the volunteer agrees to make themselves available for any additional appearance and publicity, as may be reasonably requested by MCMC. The volunteer shall not, without MCMC’s prior written consent, give any interview or make, give or release for publication any statement relating to the MIV programme, or otherwise make any such statement public. The volunteer consents to the use of imagery which may include them, in any record of the MIV programme or future promotion of the MIV programme.
